In India there are only two commercially available electric cars viz Mahindra e2o plus and Mahindra e-Verito. Tata and other automobile manufacturers will be joining this league soon.The Mahindra e2o plus comes in 3 variants as P4,P6 and P8 and are priced accordingly.The P4 variant has a range of 110 km with a top speed of 80 km/hr and is priced at around Rs.7 lakh 57 thousand, whereas the P6 variant is priced at Rs.8 lakhs 33 thousand. P8 is the high end model of Mahindra e2o plus and covers a range of around 140 km with highest speed of 85 km/hr. P8 is priced at Rs.11 lakhs 27 thousand. The variant P8 has got a better electric motor of torque 91 [email protected] rpm.
The Mahindra e-Verito also comes in 3 variants viz D2 , D4 and D6. The D2 variant has a range of 110 km at a top speed of 85 km/hr and is priced at Rs.9.5 lakhs whereas the D4 variant also has a range of 110 km with a top speed of 85 km/hr and has a price of Rs.9.75 lakhs.
The Mahindra e-Verito D6 has a powerful motor and better specifications than the rest.The price of D6 variant is Rs.10 lakhs.Mahindra is trying to launch its new models at relatively lower price. The major contribution of cost in electric cars is its battery pack. With rise in demands and increase in production of electric cars ,the cost of battery pack is expected to go down , thereby reducing the vehicle cost.
